Mana Earthly Paradise, a Next Generation Hotel is ready for Green Recovery in post-pandemic tourism
Located in Ubud, Mana Earthly Paradise, an eco-hotel run by Earth Company, is ready to welcome back conscious, sustainable travelers in the post-pandemic era. The property officially opened in September 2019, partially closed during the pandemic, and recently reopened its doors with a beautifully refurbished restaurant and garden space.
Before the pandemic, much of the focus for the tourism industry was on over-tourism. Today the priority of the global travelers is sustainability. According to a global study by booking.com, 61% of global travelers wanted to travel more sustainably. Mana Earthly Paradise was designed for this anticipated demand for sustainable tourism. Through ecological practices and innovative technologies, the property concretely addresses Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its three core facilities: eco villas, organic restaurant, and conscious store.
Mana Eco Villas: Made of earth bags, designed with circularity
Circularity lies at the core of the villas. We use solar power for our lighting, harvest rainwater, circulate wastewater, compost food waste, reduce water usage with water-saving showers and water-saving toilets, provide environmentally friendly toiletries, and use zero-waste mattresses. We use reclaimed wood for all our facilities – not a single tree was cut for construction!
Mana’s six eco villas are made of earth bags – a construction technique that produces far less carbon footprint than using conventional materials like cement, clay bricks and steel, which require enormous energy for production. The villas are also durable; earthbag buildings can stand for decades if not centuries. Not having to replace them means saving even more resources and further reducing waste. They have slow heat transfer so the villas stay cool during the day and warm at night.
Mana offers various types of villas catering to all kinds of travelers
- Single Villas: Designed with high ceilings and ample space, the single villas are suitable for solo travelers, couples, or small families.
- Family Villa: Equipped with two bedrooms, a living and dining area, the family villa is perfect for families.
- Dormitory: Both the male and female dormitories have two bathrooms and a working area. They are suitable for young travelers on tighter budgets but don’t want to sacrifice comfort and style.
